Tips on finding a new dentist

Finding the right dental office for you and your family is critical to establishing a good oral hygiene routine and care for any of your dental health needs. Here are a few tips in finding a new dentist:

  • Figure out your needs. Do you have dentures? Do you have a history of gum disease? Do you have small children? Knowing what you need and asking if an office provides those services will help narrow the field.
  • Ask friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family for recommendations. These people are more likely to have wants and needs that resemble yours and if they’ve found an office they like, then your chances of also liking that office goes up.
  • Check the location, hours of operation, and type of practice in the KVDDS website. You can get maps to any listed dental office with just a single click of the mouse to check on unfamiliar addresses.
  • If you have dental insurance check with your employer or benefits office to see if you are restricted to particular providers in the area. You may have fewer choices if you are in a restrictive program.
  • Ask a prospective office for a short tour of their facility. The reception you get and the things you’ll see may give you an idea whether this is the right office for you.
  • Finding the right Michigan Dental Association dentist to care for you and your family can start right here on the KVDDS website by clicking the Find A Dentist button above. Good luck!
