Kalamazoo Valley Dentists Donate Services to the Needy

Since 1998 the KVDDS Emergency Dental Program has donated in-kind services valued at $107,805.

In 2002 there were 413 dental patient visits to the First Presbyterian Church Health Clinic, a program which covers the uninsured population of Kalamazoo not covered by other community and charitable programs. Thirty six were referred to KVCC, 167 to Kalamazoo County and Family Health Center, 29 to Specialists, and 181 to KVDDS Emergency Dental Program. Services provided at no charge to the needy of Kalamazoo County in 2002 included 161 extractions, 21 fillings, 5 oral surgeries, 18 root canals, and 25 other procedures, which included 2 partial dentures and several crowns. The total in-kind value of these procedures was $35,434.
